Before I met Mardol, I felt completely overwhelmed trying to advocate for myself at work. When our friend a proud LGBTQ+ individual—was diagnosed with terminal cancer, we were lost. We met with Mardol to discuss his final wishes, expecting paperwork. What we got was so much more.

She had a plan not just for his end-of-life care, but to help him live until the very end. She organized a “living funeral,” bringing in her photographer friend and helping us plan a beautiful gathering where he could celebrate his life with everyone he loved. Because he chose cremation, this was our chance to say goodbye with him present.

She also helped him legally change his name and his gender marker, so he could feel comfortable in his own skin.
